Improve your business efficiency with the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method - From "passive meetings" to "active participation".

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is a process used to facilitate meetings, communication and problem solving. It consists of guiding participants through a series of questions with a view to delving ever deeper into the subject under discussion. Each participant builds their own 3D LEGO® model in order to answer the facilitator's questions using specific LEGO® pieces. These 3D models provide a basis for group discussion, knowledge sharing, problem solving or decision making.

The objective of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is to organize meetings based on the active involvement rather than the passivity of the participants. The latter then contribute more to the discussion, express new ideas and are more involved, which ultimately results in faster implementation of the solutions found.

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) method is a technique for facilitating thinking, communication and problem solving that can be used within organizations, teams or by individuals. Based on the concept of “hands-on knowledge construction,” it draws on extensive research in the fields of business, organizational development, psychology and learning.

The LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method is based on a set of fundamental beliefs in leadership and organizations:

  • Leaders don't have all the answers,
  • Their success depends on their ability to listen to all the employees present,
  • Everyone naturally wants to participate, to be part of something bigger and to make it their own,
  • Too often, teams do not work optimally because the individual resources of employees are not sufficiently exploited,
  • We live in a world that could be described as complex and evolving; by allowing each member to contribute and express themselves, a company becomes more sustainable.

At Smile, in 2018, we made the decision to help some of our employees follow training with the Master Trainers association in order to obtain certification as LSP facilitators. Since then, we have offered an introductory workshop in many agencies as well as during a corporate event that we organize. We also offer our customers a fully personalized workshop to meet their needs.
