Agentic AI applied to CMS and the web
Without a doubt, agentic AI is poised to reinvent the web. This inevitable transformation is prompting organizations to rethink, or even restructure, their websites in order to remain visible. Because, whether we like it or not, when it comes to the web, three important points must be considered, as Deborah Delin, Agentic Analyst Consultant at Smile, reminds us:
1. Performance. While technical performance is essential on the web, code visibility and readability remain paramount. In this regard, one new lever that shouldn't be overlooked is Generative Engine Optimization (GEO). Just as SEO helps you rank on search engines like Google, GEO helps you be cited by generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Claude AI.
2. "Accessibility is a mandatory prerequisite for all web projects." Similarly, AI-generated code must not slow down the site, as this risks degrading overall performance. To facilitate the user experience and offer a premium, personalized experience, it is more important than ever to provide the "right content, in the right place, at the right time."
3. "The long-term viability of the architecture: we want something stable, something we can maintain over time." With technological advancements, it's possible to deliver a website much faster. However, can we really stop at the deliverable stage? The answer is no. "We need data to perform continuous analytics. We will therefore monitor this data, analyze it, understand user behavior and expectations, [in order to be] able to improve it."
The promises kept by agentic AI
Let's pause for a moment on this notion of speed of delivery. In the not-so-distant past, CMSs were as efficient as they were easy to use. However, a lot of front-end code had to be created, and maintenance was difficult. Ultimately, this approach proved costly and complex. The promise of agentic AI is "a premium rendering and maintenance that is far less time-consuming than it used to be," summarizes Deborah Delin. We owe this to the agentic factory! What's that?
This involves a value chain of five specialized AI skills: specification, design, development, testing, and security. “Each of these agents therefore has a specific role in the entire value chain that we will bring to the agentic factory,” explains the expert. “This factory will work in continuous iteration, and we will improve it as we go, adapting it to each client’s needs.” She adds: “[…] human validation remains key: we still need humans to configure these skills, adapt them to the project, improve them, and also validate them.”
To make the subject more concrete, Deborah Delin handed the reins to Florian Pena, Technical Director of Digital eXperience at Smile, and Raphaël Khaiat, Principal Solutions Engineer at Acquia .
The first speaker presented a fictional project using a Specification Driven Delivery (SDD) framework, a methodological approach in which a highly structured specification, readable by a Software Licensing Manager (LLM), is written before any code is produced. This live demo of the agentic factory relies on a Strapi stack , Next.js , and Claude AI for component and front-end generation.
