Boost the marketing of Orphie cameras by making the solution sovereign against industrial espionage via a cyber-secure Yocto architecture.

The challenge

Protecting innovation in the abyss

The underwater imaging market is ultra-competitive. Orphie technology, integrated on an Nvidia Jetson card, offers unparalleled visual clarity in the marine environment. However, deploying intelligent units in the field exposes our most valuable asset— our image processing algorithms —to risks of data mining and industrial espionage.

The need

The need is clear: to move from a functional prototype to an industrial solution that is "shielded" against espionage.

By migrating to a hardened Yocto architecture and auditing your architecture, we are not just fixing vulnerabilities; we are creating a digital sanctuary for your algorithms.
This security measure is the strategic lock which, once activated, will unleash your large-scale commercial potential by ensuring that your intellectual property remains your exclusive property, everywhere in the world.

The challenge

The risk equation: deployed intelligence vs. stolen property

This challenge rests on three essential pillars, beginning with the protection of the algorithm, which aims to prevent a competitor or malicious third party from extracting the image processing code by physically accessing the hardware. The second imperative concerns the industrialization of security, an approach that requires moving from a standard, flexible but vulnerable operating system to a custom-designed, minimalist, and completely locked-down Yocto architecture. Finally, the last challenge is to overcome the commercial barrier by precisely defining the technical "trust threshold"; this threshold will allow management to authorize mass public distribution, with the assurance that each unit sold will not be transformed into a reverse engineering tool for the competition.

Our approach

"Cyber-robustness" as a lever for growth

We are not simply updating an operating system. We are undertaking a profound transformation towards a hardened Yocto architecture, turning each camera into a true digital vault.
This comprehensive security approach rests on three fundamental pillars. First, we ensure complete software isolation by migrating to a custom-built system designed with Yocto, which permanently eliminates vulnerabilities inherent in standard operating systems. Simultaneously, we guarantee hardware integrity through the addition of secure boot features, essential for protecting equipment against direct physical attacks. Finally, security extends throughout the entire product lifecycle via update management using an audited swupdate framework, an approach that ensures only software officially produced and signed by Orphie can run on board.

The result

From cybersecurity expertise to the industrial digital fortress.

The cybersecurity audit defined a rigorous roadmap, which we are now implementing through an intensive phase. This action plan revolves around migrating to Yocto Scarthgap and deploying full encryption, secure boot, and image signing.
By locking down physical access and industrializing key management at the heart of I2S processes, we ensure a level of trust that corresponds to the cybersecurity needs of the product: security assurance against physical attacks on the product.

In just two months, our team transformed the architecture of these cameras into a veritable digital fortress, safeguarding the algorithms. This success was a real catalyst: this initial collaboration has since evolved into a solid technological and business partnership with this major player in digital imaging.
