From September 18 to October 8, 2023, European Sustainable Development Week (ESDW) will be held, an opportunity to raise awareness among all the players in our society of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations, the 2030 Agenda.
The 17 Sustainable Development Goals are a universal call to action for a better future for generations to come. The program aims to eradicate poverty, protect the planet, ensure prosperity for all, and maintain peace in the world by 2030.
In order to meet this ambitious challenge, the ESDW is mobilizing all Europeans to take action on a daily basis to ensure that the 17 Goals prosper effectively, in every country!
As part of its CSR policy, Smile Group is already committed to the Sustainable Development Goals. This year, on the occasion of the ESDW and its related challenges, we have decided to take concrete action, to keep us on course for a better, more sustainable world by 2030:
- SDGs 1 to 17
SDG awareness quizzes will be sent to all Group collaborators. These quizzes are a fun way of finding out more about the current state of the planet in figures.
- SDGs 1 (No poverty), 3 (Good health and well-being) and 10 (Reduced inequalities)
Hygiene products will be collected to help those most in need, through the Dons solidaires association, which will be responsible for putting them to good use for the most vulnerable.
- SDGs 13 (Measures to fight climate change) and 15 (Life on earth)
A litter pick will be organized for all collaborators wishing to take part. This year, the focus will be on collecting cigarette butts. Worldwide, an estimated 4,300 billion cigarette butts are thrown on the ground every year, despite being highly toxic for the planet.
On September 25, for the International Day of the SDGs, an SDG flag will be hoisted for the entire Smile Group. On that day, flags will be raised by thousands of organizations, symbolizing their commitment to the 17 SDGs and the 2030 Agenda. By raising the flag, organizations, companies and municipalities unite and show their support for this global movement for a better, more sustainable world.
Through these measures dedicated to the European Week for Sustainable Development, and through its actions throughout the year, Smile Group expresses its conviction that building a more sustainable future will involve achieving the Goals set by the United Nations in 2015.
